What types of rapier loom?

Rapier looms are divided into four main schools based on their weft insertion method, each with its own unique techniques:

1. Rigid Rapier (Iron Arm School)
Single Rapier: A single alloy rapier with a collet traverses the entire width (3-6 meters), and the shaft is chrome-plated to prevent yarn scratching.
Heavy Duty: Specialized for weaving fiberglass mesh/canvas, the rapier head features tungsten steel teeth capable of biting 2000D aramid.
Fatal Weakness: Excessive inertia can easily derail during sudden stops, leading the workshop to jokingly call it a "bowling machine" (breaking parts like knocking over pins).

2. Flexible Rapier (Soft Whip School)
Steel Belt Weft Insertion: 0.2mm spring steel belt is coiled and stored, and when extended, it shoots out like a tape measure.
Special Skill: Weaving ultra-fine denier silk without snagging (sheepskin strips are applied to the steel belt surface), a specialized machine for high-end Italian silk.
Vulnerability: Fatigue fracture of the steel belt resembles a razor blade, requiring operators to wear cut-resistant aprons.

3. Dual-Phase Rapier (Double-Eyed Sword)
Left-Right Strike: The left blade delivers the weft to the center, while the right blade pulls it back (the weft yarn is always stretched straight without slack).
The King of Complex Patterns: When weaving brocade, the two blades can intersect in a figure-eight pattern, creating three-dimensional carving patterns.
Repairing Hidden Pit: A 0.1-second difference in synchronization between the two systems can cause the blades to collide, requiring a master's understanding of mechanical clockwork.

4. Telescopic Rapier (Golden Cudgel)
Three-Stage Telescopic: Extends to full width for weft insertion and retracts into a protective sleeve for retraction (saving 60% space).
A favorite in workshops: A boon for small factories in narrow alleys, a 3-meter-wide machine occupies only 1.8 meters of floor space.
Short-Life Operation: Oil leaks from the hydraulic telescopic cylinder can contaminate the fabric, and the sealing ring must be replaced every three months (using an excavator hydraulic ring as a replacement).
